Two more sticker cards

I used the same vellum stickers from a previous post and made two different cards. The vellum stickers are called Beyond Postmarks, Sentiments, from K & Company.  The paper is from Fancy Pants and is called Wonderful Day. The first card uses the tag topper scalloped punch from Stampin' Up.

The second card uses the Circles Large Edger punch from EK Success and a heart punch.  The Circles punch is an edger punch and makes a chain of circles.  I simply punched the top of my tag and trimmed the extra circles I didn't want off the top.  I find that I have a lot of edger punches and I need to find different things to do with them.

More vellum sticker cards

Here are three more cards that I made using the vellum stickers I talked about in my last post.

The above card uses a chevron background die from, I believe Papertrey Ink. The card below uses a background die from Taylored Expressions.

See the arches on the first and third card?  They are made with the Diamond Lace slim edger punch from EK Success.  I just punched one out and stuck it behind the sticker to give that cool arch look.  On the third card I drew the lines that radiate out.  The punch I speak of is pictured below.

Color Inspiration everywhere!

As I was cleaning my stamping area I walked by my EK Success big border punches and came across a punch that I haven't used yet.  Okay, there are a lot of punches I haven't used yet.  This one caught my eye and the sparks in my brain started to fly.

What can I do with the circles large edger punch though?  Then I found this paint idea card from Valspar that I picked up at Lowe's.  It contains a fabulous color combo - see it below.

How much fun are those colors?  I used Lovely Lilac, Gable Green, Real Red and Tempting Turquoise from Stampin' Up for my pallette.  I am sorry, but just because a color is retired doesn't mean that I won't use it.  I like to be able to use the color I want when I want it!

Then I made the card, but I had a heck of a time with the bow.  I hate tying bows - did I ever mention that?  I think I spent almost an hour working on getting this bow just right.  UGH!

Without further ado, here is the card.  The sentiment is Sweet Essentials from Stampin' Up.  I wasn't sure what sentiment to use, so I made it a non-traditional Christmas card.

My take home message is: color inspiration is all around you - you just have to be aware of it.  Oh yes, and you have to carry a camera or phone to take a picture of it so you can reproduce it later!

Have a great night - Heidi

Happy Halloween on New Years?

I found these items at my local Goodwill.  The owl be seeing you punch was $6.99 and the spider stickers were $0.99.  I thought the punch was a bit pricey, but my husband encouraged me to get it.  What could I do, but oblige him?

Card Size: A2
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip textured.
Ink: Jet Black Staz-On,  Vegas Gold all-purpose ink from Tsukineko, black acrylic paint for the branch.
Stamp: Essential Sentiments from A*muse Studios.
Other: Maya Road chipboard (Birds & Branches?), 2 1/2" circle punch, Owl Be Seeing You punch from Fiskars.

I am loving the color combination on this card to bring out the jeweled accent on this K & Company sticker!
Card Size: 5 X 7.
Cardstock: Concord Crush & Cajun Craze.
Paper: The insert behind the stickers in the pack!
Stamp: Essential Sentiments from A*muse Studios.
Other: Art Deco corner punch from EK Success & sticker from K & Company.
Have a happy & creative New Year - Heidi

Stampin space changes

I have been bored.  I can't imagine why because I have a LOT to do.  Perhaps I am just restless.  I have been visiting my local Goodwill stores and found some new ways to store stuff.  Take a look.

The above are two standing DVD case holders that I just hung on the wall.  They were on the floor, but I'd have to stand on my head to see the stamp sets at the bottom.  Not any more.  The lowest rack is a metal DVD holder that I attached to the wall also.  It holds my word stamp sets.

This wood DVD rack is perfect for getting my old wood-mounted stamps out of the closet!  I am running out of wall otherwise I would've hung this higher up.  I also have my Cricut cartridge stored there.  Higher up is a double CD rack that holds my EK Success border punches.  Below that is a DVD rack that holds my bigger EK Success border punches.  Below is a closer up view of the punch storage.

All of these racks were purchased at Goodwill and I didn't pay more than $5.00 for any single one of them.  I am feeling pretty nifty for my great buys and great ideas.  Have a great day - Heidi

Fun Flowers and new In Colors

I bought an EK Success big border punch called Hawaiian flowers.  I have finally used it on this card.  To fill in behind the flowers of the border I simply punched out circles and glued them on the back.

Cardstock: White, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse, Lucky Limeade.
Tools: Fun Flowers Bigz die, EK success hawaiian flowers border punch & McGill branch punch
Ink: Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals
Other: Crystal Effects
Stamps: Signature Greetings from Papertrey Ink

The card below substitutes Summer Starfruit for Midnight Muse.

Butterflies for Letty

This is the card I made for my very best friend's birthday. The stamp is from Stampin' Up and the set is called Bring on the Cake. The card uses some awesome Graphic 45 paper, a recycled piece of cardboard from a McDonald's toy. It also uses the new Striped Butterfly 2-in-1 Edger Punch & the Butterfly Layering punch both from EK Success. Why yes, I am a tool freak! Letty should get this card tomorrow in the mail so hopefully she doesn't this posting before then. - Heidi

I've Seen That Before - #3

Okay so the punch isn't that new. I made this card months ago when the punch wasn't in the stores yet. I love this triple layer butterfly punch from EK Success! The colors are Yellow Tart (PTI), Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder from Stampin' Up. The stamp is from SU and the set is called You're a Gem. The ISTB is the doily underneath the Foliage (spellbinders). The last time we ate at Chancery this was under a bowl of soup and I took it before anything spilled onto it. Then I cut the doily in half and made two similar cards with it. - Heidi

Sew butterflies?

Once again things at Buckaroo's house inspire me to create. I saw a card on the end table at his house and knew I had to recreate the color scheme from it. I desperately need a light box because this picture does my card no justice! The butterflies are the embosslit from SU and a die from Quikutz. They are cut from Whisper White cardstock. The background and leaves are cut from Wild Wasabi cardstock. The flowers are stamped in Wild Wasabi and Marina Mist (markers) on So Saffron and cut out by hand. Ugh, that was a LOT of cutting. It really is very stunning IRL!

The above card uses the Sew Suite stamp set from Stampin' Up. It was inspired by this card. As always I changed things around a bit. I couldn't stamp straight on the seam binding so I gave up and stamped on Pear Pizzazz. What else is Smooch for besides making the metal end of a tape measure?! It looks authentically metal. - Heidi

I bought the punch, now what?

I bought this EK Success punch because I thought it was cute, and it is. Then I struggled to figure out what to do with it when I actually went to use it. I am far too anal to NOT have the cupcakes be colored perfectly or accurately! I dug for some old SU DSP and found the old Sweet Pea (?) stack. Close to Cocoa for the cupcake papers and So Saffron and Pretty in Pink for the frosting and this paper matched perfectly. I punched pink and yellow circles for the frosting and tucked it behind the border. The cherry is from the Build a Cupcake punch from SU & the sentiment is from Create a Cupcake also from SU. I punched the cherry out of Real Red and then colored the stem with a Chocolate Chip marker. EASY! The scalloped border is also a punch from EK Success that I love to use. - Heidi

Sail Away in crumb cake

When taking care of Buckaroo I noticed a vintage beach chair in the corner. It was navy & craft and oh so cool. I borrowed the stamp (Sail Away) from Karen and tried to duplicate the beautiful design of the beach chair. I clear embossed on Crumb Cake cardstock and then sponged Night of Navy all around it. The compass is from The Open Sea & the sentiment is from Word Play. Not the best version, but I plan on trying many more things with the Sail Away stamp! Stay tuned! - Heidi

Trio Flower punch and new specialty paper

I made this envelope with the Stampin' Up Bitty Box & Envelope die. Then I added the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware to the front. Here's the kicker - the new Sending Love Specialty Paper from Stampin' Up (available January 5th) fits the trio flower punch perfectly! If you look at the pictures there are so many ways to use the punch with the new paper. Even a scrap of the glittery part will make a cute flower (bottom left of above picture). That's a great UPSELL idea. This envelope will be part of a card that I am going to make once I borrow the scalloped heart embosslit from my friend Karen. - Heidi

Joy Christmas Cards

What do you do when it is raining outside in Wisconsin on Christmas Eve? Why make Christmas cards and pray the rain doesn't freeze!

I saw a version of this on Stamper's Showcase on Stampin' Up's demo website. I made many versions with different SU DSP. I have a ton of it and this is great for using up scraps. My favorite is at the top using Holiday Lounge paper. It is simple and a great way to maximize the use of the ornament punch and the Serif Essentials Bigz Alphabet Die Set by Sizzix - both available from Stampin' Up. I don't do simple most of the time. I had to hold myself back to keep from adding a brad or ribbon or something!!!! Have a great day! - Heidi

MOJO 118

I have been stuck in a rut lately and this was just the thing to get me going. I am into using my retired DSP from Stampin' Up because I have a LOT of it. This uses the new Fox & Friends and Vintage Labels from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration. Have a great day! - Heidi

Christmas Card Case #1

This is the first group of cards I designed. Each group got one of the triangle Christmas Tree cards. They are so simple, yet awesome that I put one in each group. - Heidi

Welcome Christmas

I love this Christmas paper from Stampin' Up and my new tree punch from EK Success. Put them together with a little dimensional snow paint from JoAnn's and some bling and I made this simple card. Recipe to follow. - Heidi

Jack-o-Lantern card

I saw this punch at Jo-Ann's in Racine. They had the punch one time. For weeks I went back and the hook was there, but the punch was not. This punch is from EK Success. I don't believe EK did a good job marketing these new punches. I haven't see them anywhere except on-line. I purchased mine on www.franticstamper.com.

I used Tangerine Tango cardstock from Stampin' Up. Then I scored it every half inch with my Scor-pal. I took a small piece of Barely Banana and punched the face out of it also. Then I glued the Barely Banana to the back so it'd look like the pumpkin was carved. It occured to me that he needed a stem! A piece of Old Olive ribbon tucked in at the top. Then I mounted it on black cardstock and I was done.

Thanks for visiting!
