An African Grey card

I have a Cricut, but I don't use it as much as the price suggests I should.  I bought the Pet Shop cartridge because I like animals.  Xavier asked me to make an African Grey like Sterling.  So I put on my thinking cap and here is what I came up with.

A2 card size, Pacific Point DSP, Basic Black, Yo Yo Yellow, Real Red, Close to Cocoa & Basic Grey cardstock, You're a Gem stamp set.

Below is what the Cricut cartridge suggests that the bird look like, but we know that I don't like to follow anyone's ideas to the letter.  So I changed the colors, used the same foot twice, but flipped it, drew lines on the branch and feet, shortened the tail and sponged a bit of white to make a Congo African Grey parrot.  I think it came out awesome and it took forever so I will never make another one ever again! - Heidi

It's been a while...

.......but I have these cards to show for it.

I made this goldfish with my Pet Shop Cricut cartridge.  It was really big so I had to put it on an A10 card, you know the business sized envelope.  The bubble is from Close to My Heart's Super Powers set and the words are from Stampin Up's Fabulous Phrases.  I like my Cricut machine well enough, but the lack of clean cuts is driving me crazy.  Plus I am so anal that I have to add to everything I cut to make it look more realistic.  One thing cut out takes me hours because I need to embellish it!

I don't know how I missed posting this card before with the other Reason to Smile card I did here.  This card uses a lot of new Stampin' Up products which I will list below.

Cardstock & Inks: Summer Starfruit, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake.
Punches: circle, scalloped circle and 2" scalloped circle punch from EK Success that mats the SU punch perfectly.
Tools: large scallop edgelit, bitty banner framelits, delicate designs folders, chevron folder
Stamps: Reason to Smile & Itty Bitty Banners
Hope you enjoy - Heidi

Valentine's Day cuties

I purchased the "Create a Critter" Cricut cartridge and decided to use it today. These are Valentine's Day cards for my nieces and nephews. I have a million cards in my basement and just keep making more. I desperately need to sell them! It wouldn't hurt to mail a few also, now would it?! So in an effort to share my beautiful craft I made these to send.

The hippo is Pixie Pink, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette. The ribbon is Regal Rose and I think it is retired. The flower is from Petaloo - I bought a big collection at one time. The DSP is a sheet from the neighborhood mini stack (wasn't that last year's Sale-A-Bration?). Inside I plan on writing "Hippo Valentine's Day."

The whale is Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue and Pacific Point. The DSP is Brocade Blue form a 6 X 6 retired hostess pack from Stampin' Up. The ribbon is Bashful Blue and I believe long retired. Inside I am going to write "Whale you be my Valentine?"

On Monday my Sale-A-Bration stuff arrives! I am excited to try out the flower punch as I have a color scheme a brewin' in my head! I decided to skip the pre-order and paying for SAB sets. This way I get them free like everyone else. I simply had to wait like everyone else - that was the hard part! I am going to try and get my Pathophysiology read tonight and my Vietnam history class stuff done tomorrow. That way I can play on Monday night! I have already finished my gerontological readings. Those are the three classes I am taking this semester, by the way. A good night to all - Heidi

Cricut cards

Here is a few of the cards I have made lately with my Cricut Expression. I took a class at Hobby Lobby and learned a lot. I could've read the manual, but that is boring and I am more of a hands on person. The above card is a 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" square card. It uses all Stampin' Up supplies except for the stamp and peach flesh are from Papertrey Ink. The stamp is signature Greetings and the flesh of the peach is melon berry cardstock. Stampin' Up supplies are chocolate chip, peach parfait, daffodil delight cardstock and paper. The ribbon is peach parfait also. The bling is Hero Arts. the peach is off of the Preserves cartridge.

These happy birds are from the home decor cartridge. The stamp is well scripted by Stampin' Up. Marina Mist, Bashful Blue and Pacific Point are the cardstocks I used for this card. I really do love these birds. Mom's tail got a few dew drops and I colored in the eyes. Have a great day - Heidi

Hot Wheels & geese

The above card was made using my Cricut Expression. That machine has me scrapbooking again and I was afraid it would kill my will to make cards. Well that's not true! These geese are on a Cricut Lite cartridge called Wildlife that is only available at Wal-Mart, I believe. I was going for a really cool card, but this one is so-so. If I had sponged it a bit then it would have been awesome! The color combo of Early Espresso with Marina Mist and Tangerine Tango is thanks to the Stampin' Up color coach. I do like that book A LOT! The geese are Sahara Sand and Early Espresso. The sun is So Saffron and the extra torn sky is Pumpkin Pie. The land is Close to Cocoa with a touch of Chocolate Chip marker along the water's edge. All-in all not a bad card.

My sons' friend has a birthday tomorrow. His invitation was this Hot Wheels car on the front. I love to recycle a card and see what I can do with it. I fussy cut around the car and cut "Happy Birthday" with my Stamping Solutions Cricut cartridge. The Tempting Turquoise background is embossed with the big 5 X 7 Cuttlebug embossing folder with gears on it called "clockworks." I hope he likes it - we shall see tomorrow. Have a lovely evening - Heidi
