Let It Go!

We bought a Frozen Castle at Goodwill for my husband's niece and she was kind enough to give the box back to me.  I made this 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" card from a picture on the box.  The word birthday is stamped and embossed and I believe the stamp is from Papertrey Ink.  The die is also from Papertrey Ink and is called One-liners: Happy Die.

Vintage card

Just when I thought I was done blogging I had to share this fabulous card!  I saw this vintage clasp at my local Goodwill and instantly knew that I NEEDED to make a card with this gal!

Background die love!

I am in love with background dies.  They make a quick and cool backgrounds for any card.  I saw a card that cut away part of the back ground and I thought I could definitely do that.  To see an example click here, it's the second card.  This card is similar as I cut away part of the background chevron die cut. The die is the Chevron Cutting Plate from Taylored Expressions. The sentiment is from All Holidays and the flowers are from Too Kind, both from Stampin' Up.

The next card uses the Cover Plate: Chevron Vertical Die from Papertrey Ink. I cut out several colors of cardstock with this die.  Then in the kraft colored background I placed the blue and pink stripes to fill in the background.  The sentiment is from Banner Greetings and the flower is from Fifth Avenue Floral both from Stampin' Up. The leaves are foliage dies from Spellbinders. The doily behind the flower is picot edge circles from Spellbinder.

More vellum sticker cards

Here are three more cards that I made using the vellum stickers I talked about in my last post.

The above card uses a chevron background die from, I believe Papertrey Ink. The card below uses a background die from Taylored Expressions.

See the arches on the first and third card?  They are made with the Diamond Lace slim edger punch from EK Success.  I just punched one out and stuck it behind the sticker to give that cool arch look.  On the third card I drew the lines that radiate out.  The punch I speak of is pictured below.

A catch-up on cards post

I have three more cards to share with you tonight.  I seem to accumulate the pictures and post them all at once.  I should do one-a-day like most bloggers to keep you interested, but I can't seem to post every day.  Oh well, here they are!

The above card uses a Martha Stewart sticker that I purchased at Goodwill.  Why was it at Goodwill, you may ask?  Some of the pearls were missing from the cake so perhaps that was why.  If you look closely you will see that the pearls are a little different.  I "replaced" the missing pearls with some pearl-like glue.  If I hadn't pointed it out, you probably never would've noticed, right?  The banner is from Bountiful Banners by Papertrey Ink.

I love this card.  It uses the Chevron Cutting Plate from Taylored Expressions. I sponged an ombre assortment of colors on a shiny piece of photo paper and put it behind the cut out.  Then I fussed for about 20 minutes making that bow.  I hate fussing - I am very impatient.  I will probably never, ever make this bow again, but damn if doesn't look awesome!  I can never mail it so I have no idea what I am going to do with it!  For now it is sitting on my work table as a reminder of my awesomeness! :)

My last card uses the Swallowtail stamp from Stampin' Up. A while back I stamped this image on Tangerine Tango and embossed it in black.  I then took a paint brush dipped in bleach and water and "painted" on the cardstock to make lighter areas.  Sometimes you just have to paint with bleach to get the look you desire.  It came out beautifully, but I had no idea what to do with it.  Then I saw a card in a magazine that placed this butterfly in a square, with a stamped saying (not the one I used).  The light bulb went on and this swallowtail had a new home.  The saying is from Butterfly Dreams by Papertrey Ink. The other colors are Island Indigo and Black.  I actually used my diagonal scoring plate from Stampin' Up for the first time.  Needless to say there is a bit of a learning curve and this was NOT my first attempt at a criss-cross background.  A few pearls added where the diamonds intersect to give it a quilted look and here's what I made.  Hope you like - Heidi

Summer Silhouettes

I borrowed the set Summer Silhouettes from my friend Karen.  I was really wanting it bad, but after borrowing it now I am over it.  It is not a bad set. I have so many other stamp sets similar to it, and a LOT of other sets on my wish list, that this one is off my mind for now.

Up In the Air

While at my local thrift store I spotted two older Stampin' Up stamp sets.  The set I am showing you today is called Up In the Air.  There are two sets with this name on SplitCoast, but this one is the older set.  It features planes and a hot air balloon.  I paired it with a Papertrey set called Butterfly Dreams and you have the following cards.

 

This is a bad picture as the airplane is actually popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  It does look more impressive in real life.  Thanks for looking! - Heidi

Slider Cards?

I got an ad in the mail from US Cellular for the new Samsung Galaxy S5.  The ad shows a phone on the front with the screen cut-out and you pull the inside paper through to change the screen's picture.  It was very cool so I thought I can do that!  Here, after much frustration, are the end results.  I may post directions later, please let me know if you are interested.

An all Stampin' Up version.  This was tricky because I had to cut the window out twice and cut the frame by hand.  Very time consuming!

My last one closed and then open.  These fit nicely in a #10 envelope as they are 8 1/2" long.  Hope you like them. - Heidi

Frozen's Olaf at Easter

A co-worker and I were talking about her grandchildren.  She wanted something for them for Easter.  Her grandson, Greyson, likes Disney's Frozen.  I found this FREE printable Valentine on Pintrest here.  I just printed it out and added on a few things to make this card.

 

Cardstock: Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi, Green Galore, Daffodil Delight, Close to Cocoa, variety for the Easter Eggs and white to print Olaf on and for the bunny ears (along with Blushing Bride).

Stamps: Year Round Happiness from Papertrey Ink.

Ink: Wild Wasabi from Stampin' Up.

Die: One Liners: Happy Die from Papertrey Ink.

Punches: small oval, Easter Basket and grass from Martha Stewart and 1" circle.

Farm Girl

When I won the World Cardmaking contest I received some Farm Girl paper and etcetera from October Afternoon.  It is very cute and retro stuff.  I made the following cards using some of their products.

The greetings are from Fiskars and the set is called All Year Greetings.  The flowers are two sets and punches from Stampin' Up called Petite Petals and Flower Shop. The cardstock is Ocean Tides from PTI and More Mustard from Stampin' Up.

Below uses Close to Cocoa cardstock from Stampin' Up.

Silhouette Cameo Cards

I have been trying to use my Silhouette Cameo machine more lately.  The cards that I have done haven't been too complicated and the machine cuts very well. I think that I lack patience when it comes to popping all those pieces out of what I have cut.  Take for instance the rope frame on the card below.  That frame is very intricate and even as big as I cut it there were a lot of little pieces to push out.  All in all I don't think it turned out too bad.

This card is a 5 X 7 size.

The sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink set.  I couldn't find any stamps that I could fit Happy Birthday on the whole banner so I just went with BIRTHDAY.

This is an A2 size card.

The above card is a swing card that I cut out on my Cameo.  I used some old Stampin' Up Christams paper.  The tree flips open to the inside. It is very cool - one that you have to see in person to really appreciate it. - Heidi

Papertrey Fun!

I am in love with Papertrey Ink's chevron cover plate die.  I made some rainbow cards, that I have yet to post, and had leftover backgrounds.  They were lying on my work table when I got the idea to layer the backgrounds.  I think it looks way cool to layer the negative chevron pieces.

The stamps are from Bountiful Banners and Blooming Button Bits both from Papertrey Ink.  The cardstock I used was YoYo Yellow and Only Orange.  It is busy, but the background is stunning to behold.  Just a little tucking and gluing to make this card.  Have a Happy 4th. - Heidi

Perfume and Girly

I am not very girly.  I am not a bling person either.  I don't like working with glitter because it gets everywhere!  Here is my attempt at some girly cards using my Cameo Silhouette for the perfume bottles.  The sentiments are from Papertrey Ink.  Have a wonderful evening - Heidi

I like the above card the best!  I think the bottle on the lower right looks like a salad dressing bottle.  Oh well.

 

Girly, You Rock!

The above cards use a guitar design found on my Cameo Silhouette.  The stamp is Signature Greetings from Papertrey Ink.  Something is still missing, but I'll have to figure it out for the next round of cards!  Have a great day - Heidi.

Flowers, fathers and dresses

I am playing catch-up on cards I have made, but not posted.

The above card was inspired by my friend Beth.  She sent me a picture of a card box she made and the cover had something similar on it.  I stamped the Pleasant Poppies over the French Script background and water colored the flowers in.  The sentiment is from Fabulous Florets.

I still love these dies from Papertrey Ink!  The Man & Wife are so cool!  Instead of a wedding card like this one here I decided to have the man go solo for a Father's Day card.  What do you think?

I ordered the dress up framelits dies from Stampin' Up, but haven't really had the chance to play with them yet!  So sad, I know!  I also scored the big button border die from my local Goodwill store and I attached several buttons over it.  I still need to make an envelope for it, but I don't think it turned out too bad.  It needs a sentiment or something else, I think. - Heidi

Happy Hexagons

I saw this DCWV paper stack at JoAnn's and it has foil designs over kraft paper.  It's only 6 X 6, but very cool!  Combine it with the hexagon background die from Papertrey Ink and you get the following cool cards.

Just line all those hexagons up the way you want and stamp your sentiment and emboss with silver.  Simple yet oh so nifty! - Heidi

Man and Wife

I have a new love!  It is this die set from Papertrey Ink called Man & Wife.

This may very well be my new go-to die for wedding and anniversary cards.  I think I'll make more in different colors!  Have a crafty evening! - Heidi

Ciao Bella - literally!

I said I would make a bunch of cards using the Ciao Bella stack that I bought at Michael's and I did.  Now the paper is gone except for a few sheets that I didn't like so that will go in my rummage sale this Summer.  Here are the cards I made from the DCWV stack.

Above & below use Pink Pirouette and Pretty in Pink for their card bases.  The remainder of the 12 X 12 sheet was cut up and used inside the card.

The card below is my favorite as I just love the color scheme.  The Baja-like blue and Pumpkin Pie look awesome together!  The bird is fussy cut and popped up, but the picture doesn't show it well.

The base for the next two cards is Plum Pudding from Papertrey Ink.  I am almost grateful that I could no longer afford to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator.  I hated being limited to what supplies I could use!  I have a love of papercrafting and want to use it all!

The bird on the left is fussy cut and popped up.  The sentiment is from the paper stack.

All of the dies used here are from Provocraft.  They are the dies that came with Cuttlebug embossing folders in a pack.  They are great for quick words!

The card bases below are Real Red.

The card bases for these cards are So Saffron.  I love how the words POP out on these cards.

Card bases below are Primrose Petals, Regal Rose & Pretty in Pink.  The first two cards are one sheet of paper split and the next card is the flowers all together.

Ruby Red, an oldie, but goody rounds out the card base for the next two cards.
