More Christmas

Yesterday I was trying to come up with some cards for my next class on December 4th. The first card is yuck and I am not feeling it at all. The second card is a ribbon CASE from SCS. I think I will mount it on a Riding Hood Red card base though. Hopefully I'll have better luck creating something today. - Heidi

Chemo Card

This is for my neighbor Diane that told me last week she had cervical cancer and she isn't even 40 years old! I am going to try and give her a card a week. This is a CASE from a Hallmark card. Inside it says (But if it sucks the cancer right out of you, then "YAY, chemo!"). The colors are Real Red and Taken with Teal. It is a 5 X 7 card. Have a great day! - Heidi

Holy Wedding cards Batman!

I shouldn't be left to wander aimlessly through Hobby Lobby. For some reason I strolled down the bridal aisle and found the groom and bride tiles. Right next to them were bling hearts and look at this - they were 50% off! And here I had just ordered the bride paper off of the Clearance rack from Stampin' Up. PERFECT. That spawned card number one using sentiments that I printed out on my computer. I believe Stampin' Up had a stamp set with the husband, wife, happy life saying previously so that is not an original idea. So I made 8 of those cards - don't ask me why.

Then I was in Hobby Lobby to buy some paper to make envelopes for these 7 3/4" X 5 1/2" large cards and stumbled upon the kraft colored background paper that is wedding themed. I also discovered an entire stack of pearl foil paper by S.E.I. - much like the bride paper from Stampin' Up. Alas the tiles are black, white and pink so that won't match a kraft colored card. Let's go back to the bridal area and lo-and-behold I find a pack of silver rings for a different trinket to put on a card. Instead of bling let's just punch a little heart and if it isn't shiny enough we can always apply Crystal Effects or some glitter/Stickles. And the gorgeous foil paper? Well that can be sponged/daubered to whatever color you want. For the last card I used Elegant Eggplant and Mellow Moss because my friend Karen has a wedding she is going to next weekend and those are the wedding colors. She doesn't know I made it, but I'll let you know if she likes it.

I am off to trick-or-treat instead of hiding in my basement and stamping - DARN! Darth Vader (Xavier) and Batman/singer/jedi guy (Isandro - don't ask) are waiting. Have a fantastic Halloween. - Heidi

MOJO 162

Here is my submission for this week's MOJO MONDAY challenge. I tried a round card, but I don't think I like it. It's too small! I used the biggest Spellbinder Eyelet circle die and cut from peach parfait cardstock. The DSP is Sunny Garden from Stampin' Up. The bird is from a hostess set called Silhouette Sentiments. Poppy parade glitter brads and pear pizzazz cardstock behind the bird finish off the card. Have a non-windy day! - Heidi

CASE from the IBC - page 137

My friend Beth was over yesterday and we were brainstorming ideas for cards. A customer liked this card and had pointed it out as a way to use the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack. We changed the card around because I don't have any builder wheels. The DS paper is Sunny Garden. The cardstock is daffodil delight and peach parfait. The flowers & brad combos are as follows: poppy parade - real red, pretty in pink - pretty in pink, peach parfait - pumpkin pie, daffodil delight - so saffron, pear pizzazz - certainly celery. We discovered that they don't have regular brads in the new In Colors. The stamp set is Heard from the Heart. Hope you like it! - Heidi

I don't know what has set me into a tailspin now. Okay, I do. My friend Heather, whom I love dearly, has just been told that she can start the RN program in January. And here I sit and wait! I wait for people that don't know me to decide my fate. I can't help but feel down. I left my job to go back to school full-time and I put my family's welfare on the line with this risk. Then I didn't get into UW-Parkside for this Fall so here is sit.

I have also been considering canceling my SU demonstratorship as I am the one supporting it. I only have three people that come to my card classes. I know it takes time, but the economy is so bad right now how can I keep it up? Last weekend I went to a craft fair with about 300 cards and sold maybe ten of them. That's money sitting there doing nothing. I have just been considering chucking it all and giving up. Just sell it all (the Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Spellbinders) and be done with this hobby that is addicting and costs a lot of money. I am torn as to what I should do.

On the up side I have lost 43 pounds since the second week in august of 2010. I feel better physically and I am determined to make all the extra weight go away and STAY AWAY! Not the greatest picture of me, but you can see how the pants that once fit me tightly are loose and my shirt feels like a maternity shirt. I have a lot to think about and the kids are up early so I have to go. Have a great day! - Heidi

An old Mojo - 125

When I was at a craft fair last week someone asked me if I had a cardinal card that was non-Christmas. I did not. So I went to Mojo Monday and looked for a sketch that would fit my needs. Mojo 125 in February of 2010 fit my needs. Here is my non-Christmas cardinal. The card is a chocolate chip base and then crumbcake cardstock. I used the woodland walk DSP from Stampin' Up along with A Cardinal Christmas stamp set. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Garden green and wild wasabi finish it off with cardstock and ribbon.
